Steps To Completion

(We Can Do It All For You)

1.  Installation

We can do it for you

What is it?

Install The Google Nest Thermostat. Google's Product Website Additional Product Info

You can also sign up to our Pre-Order List for decreased cost.

What do I have to do?

Have us install the thermostat for you or install it yourself.

2.  Tenant Education - Features & Controls

We can do it for you

What is it?

The Google Nest Thermostat is ineffective without an understanding of its unique controls. For your convenience, here is our Instructional Video For Tenants. If they do not watch the video they are unlikely to know how to use the thermostat as almost everything is on the Google Home App.

We've found that an in-person walkthrough with the tenants from someone familiar with the app is the most effective way to prevent post-installation complaints and service requests from tenants.

What do I have to do?

Make sure your tenants watch our instructional video.

We also need the contact information of your tenants (phone and email).

3.  Tenant Check-Ins

We do it for you twice a year

What is it?

We need to verify that your tenants know how to use the thermostat's energy saving features and that the thermostat is working properly. If their understanding is lacking we'll show them how to use the features. If there is a problem, we'll fix it.

How Many Check-Ins Are There?

At least two per year, every year.

We need to verify your tenants know how to use the thermostat's controls to save money in the winter. There will always be a Check-In near the beginning of the heating season.

We don't want there to be a long period of time after their move-in where we don't know if they have a working thermostat and that they know how to use and save money with it. If move-in is near the beginning of the heating season, your tenants won't need a Check-In until Spring.

We want to check in with your tenants when the seasons switch from heating to cooling to help them with settings that they've forgotten and haven't touched for several months.

What do I have to do?

Attach the Verification Certificate when you send the Attestation Form to The City.

4.  Complete The Energy Star Portfolio Manager

We can do it for you

What is it?

This is an online form that uses data from your energy bills to track changes in the unit’s energy use from year to year.

What do I need to do?

Every year, fill out the Energy Star Portfolio Manager’s form and send it to [City Office Name TBD]. Send the forms to [City Office Name TBD] through the following address: [City Email TBD]

Follow our Portfolio Manager Guide for easy completion of the form.

We also provide a service to complete the portfolio manager for you in the options below.

5.  Verification Certificate For 55 Checklist Points

We do it for you

What is it?

After the 1st Check-In, we’ll send you our certificate the city needs in order to give you credit for completing the Google Nest Thermostat Service Program.

You get the certificate even if tenants aren’t using the energy saving features. As long as we can determine they at least know how to use the features and thermostat during our first check-in call, you get the points. The second check-in is especially important as most gas usage for heating occurs in the winter.

What do I have to do?

Send your Verification Certificate to the City of Ann Arbor
